Community Heart & Soul is a resident-driven process that engages the entire population of a town in
identifying what they love most about their community, what future they want for it, and how to achieve it.
Community Heart & Soul is based on three powerful principles – involve everyone, focus on what matters most,
and play the long game.

Lay the Groundwork
In 2021, the Youngsville Borough received grants and in-kind support through the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the PA Route 6 Alliance.
During Phase 1, teams are formed to build awareness, interest and commitment in all segments of the community.

Explore Your Community
During Phase 2, stories are gathered from residents, leading to the development of Heart & Soul statements that identify most and reflect what residents love about Youngsville.
Make Decisions
Residents develop action plans to guide future town planning base on their Heart & Soul Statements.
Take Action
Heart & Soul Statements are applied to future decision making and become part of the fabric of the community.
Love of Community can be found in the everyday and in everyone.
This project has been supported in part by PA Humanities, the Federal-State Partner of
